- Main pivots run on the same legendary preloading collet axle and expanding wedge system that Santa Cruz introduced and is copied by many bike brands now. Axles can’t back out and are keyed for worry-free removal.
- Four oversized bearings in the chainstay pivots and an axle that holds everything captive (no workshop floor explosions). It doesn’t require a blind puller tool to remove bearings for service.
- Geo flip chip hardware is captive so there’s no fear of dropping small parts on the ground. To adjust, just loosen it, flip it, and retorque. It’s easy enough to do on the side of the trail with just one Allen key.
- Threads at chainstay, seatstay pivots, and shock mount are all replaceable. So if you do damage by being a ham-fisted mechanic it’s a simple fix, not a frame-damaging one.
- All 5mm Allen key broaches throughout, so it's easy to do quick bolt checks. It’s so easy to work on the bike that even the marketing people can do it (if we hide the sharp tools from them), and it requires no specialist tools.

We’ve worked hard to improve (reduce) anti-squat on our bikes and the result is more traction and more freedom.

Riders can choose the Relay with dual 29 and 160mm travel for a more lightweight, trail bike feel, or chase their burly trail dreams with the heavy hitting Relay PNW with 170mm travel and mixed wheels. The Relay is purpose built to be ridden hard and comes equipped with a component spec for doing so. Making both the Relay and Relay PNW two of the lighter, heavy hitting eMTBs on the market.
- The lightweight 60Nm Fazua Ride60 drive unit weighs 4.3lb/1.96kg. The minimal drag and power to weight ratio provide the magic when not riding with power. As you begin to ride beyond the speed cutoff you're not penalized when continuing to push beyond the assistance like that of traditional eMTBs. The 430Wh battery, 60Nm torque, 250 watts continuous power, 450 watts peak power, and overall bike weight work harmoniously together. - The 430Wh battery weighs 4.85lb/2.2kg. It is easily removable via the tool free battery door underneath the downtube. - The simple and ergonomic ring controller adjusts modes with a gentle nudge up or down. Pushing it up increases the power level, pushing it down decreases power level, pushing inward will activate walk mode. Holding the controller up for 2 seconds from any assistance mode will activate a boost mode, giving you peak system power output for roughly ten seconds.
- The sleek display on the top tube consists of 5 led lights to give you an indication of power mode and battery life. The Relay has three power modes designated by different LED colors. Breeze mode (Green) is very functional in many situations, and is custom tuned by Transition to use in varied terrain, not just riding to the trailhead. River mode (Blue) is preset to match the amount of energy you are delivering to the pedals. If you're soft pedaling it delivers a minimal amount of assistance. The third-generation Switchblade is a do-it-all mountain bike that shines in the bike park and on singletrack. This bike is built to handle all the mountains, all the time. Now with a slacker head angle, steeper seat angle, increased reach, and a longer wheelbase than its predecessor. Size-specific chainstays are tucked in and responsive but grow incrementally longer on larger frames. This translates to added stability at warp speeds while maintaining the snap and pop ingrained in the Switchblade’s DNA. The new Switchblade is light enough to pedal all day, but stout enough to run a Fox 38 without any worries. You can spin this rig up into the jagged high places, and it is burly enough, composed enough, planted enough, and smooth enough to smash every line back down, laughing the whole way.
This is the Gen 3 Switchblade, but you may see it referred to online as V3 or even V6 due to small changes made within previous generation models.
