The Path Bike Shop new location in Live Oak Center in Trabuco Canyon, CAThe new Path Bike Shop Live Oak location is now OPEN.

We've now got two locations (in Tustin, CA and now in Trabuco Canyon, CA) to serve Orange County and all it's cyclists.

The new Live Oak location is getting new gear in every day. Our service department is up and running, and we are currently doing quick repairs while-u-wait.

The Path Bike Shop open soon sign at Live Oak Center in Trabuco CanyonWe're on our way...the soon-to-be open second location of The Path Bike Shop. The new shop is coming along, and we thought we'd give everyone an update and some insider views.

The new Path Bike Shop location is at the Live Oak Center in Trabuco Canyon. The space was previously a feed store, so it was pretty much wide space to work with. Our staff and others have been hard at work every day for many weeks, revamping the space to make it our own.

Ripping out the old floor took several days of effort. We were able to recycle wood from previous walls that were brought down, so very little has not been re-used. Many display fixtures are also being reused from past lives. Our goal is to make the new shop as sustainable as possible by recycling all that we can.

new second location for The Path Bike Shop in Trabuco CanyonIt's official! The Path Bike Shop plans to open a second location off Live Oak Canyon Road in Trabuco Canyon.

Negotiations have been taking place for about a month, and the lease was signed on July 1, 2012. The new shop will be a slightly smaller version of our original Tustin shop. We're hoping to have the new second location up and running by the end of Summer 2012.

This second location in Trabuco Canyon is near lots of great trails, and we're planning on having lots of rental bikes available. Of course we'll still have all your favorite bikes and components, as well as repair services.

Check out the announcement from Bicycle Retailer and Industry News.

Giant Bicycles logoYes, you heard it right...The Path Bike Shop is now a Giant Bicycles dealer. It's official!

We've received a bunch of new stock from Giant, and we're working on building up the new bikes as soon as possible.

Friends, Colleagues and Customers:

It is with a little sadness that I report this tale. We got a surprise visit yesterday from some of the new management up at Specialized. They informed me that we would no longer be given the option of selling Specialized bikes. This could not have been more of a surprise to me. I asked for reasons, but was only given vague answers along the lines of we are streamlining our distribution channels. They would not tell me anything specific about why we would not be part of that picture.

This is a sudden end to what has been a long and close relationship with a ton of growth and success, and we will miss doing business with our many friends up in Morgan Hill.

I believe we will still be allowed to process your Specialized warranty claims for you, and we will be happy to do so.

We are already talking with other exciting brands who are thrilled to have an opportunity to be a part of The Path Bike Shop brand lineup. Stay tuned, as we will be bringing you a more diverse and eye popping product selection than ever.

Sincerely,

Tani Walling

2012 Santa Cruz Team V10Every once in a while, working at a bike shop leads to special opportunities and adventure.  This week, I got to visit the folks at Santa Cruz bikes in Santa Cruz, CA. I saw a lot of nice bikes, and I got some great ideas for our shop from the factory setup. I met some really cool folks, and had a lot of fun riding awesome single track through the forest with loam, berms, and jumps. This style of trail is rare here in Socal, and the beautiful tree cover is a welcome change.

Production area at Santa Cruz BicyclesTo top it off,  we were given the opportunity to ride the new Tallboy LTC. I spent some good time on this bike. I put my own bar and stem setup on it, and really got a good feel for it. I really like how The Tallboy LTC rides. It feels fast on the climbs, and it rips the gnar. We will also have them for sale in the shop in a few weeks. I will be seen on Socal trails on one of these within about a month - watch out Strava.

2012 Santa Cruz Tallboy LTCOther highlights of the trip include talking to Cedric Gracia about this race season over drinks, seeing my friends Abby and Ariel, meeting a dude who calls himself Bamma who likes to rub elbows at speed on single track, and a tri tip dinner.

The Path Bike Shop ride with Transition BikesLars Sternberg from Transition Bikes paid a visit to The Path Bike Shop this week. We're glad he could take a trip out our way! Of course we had to ride while he was here to show Lars some of our great local trails.

Lars took some great photos of the shop while he was here and posted them on his blog, check out his Transition Bikes blog post.
